PIL Case Details

This matter emanates from a news report and photo features published on 02.04.2014 in "The Orissa Post" , by journalist Sri Ratan Pradhan. The news report detailed the heavy pollution of the tributaries of the river Brahmani, due to the release of effluents and discharge of untreated water from extraction units of chromites at Sukinda region and other indust rial activities. This pollution is adversely affecting millions of people who depend on this reiver for cultivation, irrigation, drinking water and other purposes. As it affects right to life, it was registered as a PIL impleading the Government of Odisha in its Mining Department, Department of Health and Family Welfare and State Pollution Control Board as opposite Parties.
