Born on 3rd February, 1947. After completing M.A. in English in 1968 and LL.B. in 1970 from Calcutta University was enrolled as an Advocate on 1st December, 1971 and practiced in the Calcutta High Court and also in the Supreme Court of India in Constitutional, Service, Labour, Company, Education, Revenue, Customs, Civil and Criminal matters. Elevated as the Chief Justice of Orissa High Court on 2.3.2007, Transferred to Madras High Court as Chief Justice on 19.5.2008, Elevated as Judge of Supreme Court of India on 17.12.2008.
