Dr. Justice Sanjeeb Kumar Panigrahi was appointed as Judge of Orissa High Court on 10th February, 2020. He was enrolled with Odisha State Bar Council, Cuttack in 2006 soon after completing his LL.M (Business Law) from National Law School of India University (NLSIU), Bangalore. After serving a brief stint as Research Assistant of Hon'ble Judges, Supreme Court of India, he started practicing in the Supreme Court of India, Delhi High Court, Orissa High Court and many other provincial High Courts. Advised and appeared for large number of Corporate Clients at Courts, NCLT, TDSAT, NGT, PMLA, Electricity Tribunal, Competition Commission other Tribunals and Forums dealing with Civil Laws, Banking Laws, Contract, Arbitration, Taxation Laws, Telecommunication laws, Intellectual Property laws, Consumer Protection, Insurance Laws, Land Laws, Revenue Matters, Service Matters etc.
He was an Advocate-on-Record in Supreme Court of India and has represented the State of Odisha before the said Court as a Panel Advocate since 2013 till his elevation. Prior to this, he was Panel Counsel for Union of India before Supreme Court of India from 2009 to 2014.
He is also an alumnus of the famous International Visitor Leadership Program (IVLP), a professional exchange program funded by the U.S. Department of State's Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs, Washington D.C.
After joining as Judge, he has been trained as Master Trainer at Federal Judicial Centre, Washington DC in 2022 and later at CEELI Institute, Prague, Czechoslovakia in 2023 on the subject of 'Human Trafficking' He is passionate in law teaching at different Law schools and State Judicial Academies.
He has authored a book titled 'Forensic Evidence and Law' published by Thomson and Reuters and regular contributor of articles and chapters to different books, English dailies and law journals. Prior to his elevation he was a regular column writer in several national English dailies on contemporary legal and policy issues. Besides being an avid reader of Economics, Philosophy, literature, Justice Panigrahi is a passionate music lover and cultural enthusiast.
