Born to Late Shri Abhiram Mohapatra, a leading light in the world of publication of Odia literature and Smt. Sabita Devi on 26th February, 1969 at Cuttack. Justice Mohapatra is the Grandson of Late Pt. Sridhar Mohapatra Sharma, a doyen of Odia literature and founder of the publication house “Grantha Mandir”. Completed schooling from Ravenshaw Collegiate School, Cuttack. Obtained graduation degree from Ravenshaw College, Cuttack in Commerce stream from Utkal University, Odisha. After obtaining a law degree from Madhu Sudan Law College, Cuttack enrolled as an advocate in the year 1995.
Started his career as an advocate by joining the distinguished chambers of Justice P.K.Mishra. Justice Mohapatra commenced independent chamber practice from the year 2000 and conducted an array of cases dealing with Constitutional Laws, Civil Laws, Revenue Laws, Criminal Laws, Education Laws, Corporate Laws, Arbitration Laws and Election Laws primarily in the High Court of Orissa.
Justice Mohapatra has been the Standing Counsel for Election Commission of India and National Aluminum Company Ltd. (NALCO) for Orissa High Court. He also acted as the Retained Counsel for Biju Patnaik University of Technology Odisha (BPUT), Odisha Human Rights Commission (OHRC), Odisha Mineral Development Corporation Ltd. (OMDC). He has argued many important/leading cases in the High Court of Orissa over the years. The Hon’ble Supreme Court of India recommended his name for elevation to the Bench by resolution dated 29th September, 2021 and was sworn in as a Judge of the High Court of Orissa on 5th of November, 2021.
He is married to Smt. Devyani Mohapatra and is blessed with two doting daughters Shreerupa and Ishani. In his leisure time, he enjoys listening to music, cycling around the lanes of the Millennium City and is an avid sports enthusiast.
